Information for Students

In order to stimulate the dialogue about teaching between teachers and students, we offer various support options centrally through the Leuphana Teaching Evaluation Team - located in Team Q.
On the one hand, it is possible to obtain feedback from students with the help of course evaluation (LVE) and to contrast it with the perceptions of teachers. The LVE is a central, standardised and anonymous survey system based on a mainly quantitative questionnaire.
On the other hand, within the framework of the Qualitative Feedback project, we offer various possibilities to discuss teaching with students in other, more qualitative ways.

1. Course Evaluation (LVE)

Since the spring semester of 2016, the LVE has been offered as a modular system: All questionnaires now consist of a basic module and optional add-on modules (freely configurable and fixed on the topics "interdisciplinarity", "practical and application relevance" and "digital teaching", others are in the planning stage). It is possible to evaluate on paper or online and in German or English. A student questionnaire and a teacher questionnaire are always used for the survey in a course.

General Conditions

The conditions of the LVE are regulated in the overarching "Procedural Guidelines of the Presidium for Quality Assurance in Studies and Teaching" (2nd point of the Gazette 02/15) as well as in the "Rules for the Conduct of Course Evaluation" (6th point of the Gazette 07/10). In addition to the evaluation regulations, quality standards are concluded with the lecturers, who are obliged to participate in the LVE. More information here .

Registration always takes place via myStudy - Leuphana's web-based course platform - and always via the teachers (or persons with editing rights). With the paper-based LVE, the student questionnaires (and teacher questionnaires) are sent to the teachers by the Leuphana teaching evaluation team and distributed to the students by them in one session. With the Online-LVE, students and teachers receive individual links to the questionnaires by e-mail.

After the evaluation of the data by the Leuphana teaching evaluation team, the teachers receive the results in the form of a detailed, individual result report, a presentation template "Evaluation in Dialogue" and in the form of a poster (short overview). It is possible to select various automatic feedback options for the results to the students when registering (by e-mail, on myStudy or by appointment).
At the end of each semester, aggregated results reports are prepared on the basis of the basic module and sent to the programme officers or those responsible for certain areas in preparation for the quality circles. The results are then incorporated into the teaching reports. Within the framework of the internal review procedures, the results are evaluated within the programme folder.

2. Qualitative Feedback

Within the framework of a cooperation between the Leuphana teaching evaluation (Hanna Haubert), the Leuphana teaching service (Anke Brehl), the network"Leuphana ... auf dem Weg!" (LadW; Judith Braun) and the Methodology Centre (Prof. Dr. Regine Herbrik), the aim was to promote qualitative feedback in teaching.

The first step in winter semester 2015/16 was to bring together interested or experienced teachers and to stimulate a visibility of already existing teaching as well as an exchange. In addition, the needs of the participants were collected and evaluated.

In a second step, a centrally supported qualitative feedback method was developed. This was tested for the first time in winter semester 2016/17.

Furthermore, various communication channels are to be expanded and tested so that teachers can inform themselves about the multitude of already known qualitative feedback methods.

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the project, please feel free to contact those involved in the project.
