Research perspectives and Potential Solutions

Sustainability research in the humanities follows an actor oriented approach.  Accordingly, social-, environmental- and sustainability topics and problems are investigated from the view of social-, political-, legal-, state-, commercial-, and individual actors.

From the perspective of the natural sciences/technology, environmental- and sustainability topics and problems are treated in relation to ecosystems and biodiversity, space, materials and energy, resources and information.  In the process, they work through which of the specific challenges and analytical approaches define the different disciplinary perspectives.

The different perspectives offer a variety of solutions. In transdisciplinary institutional events and research projects, real problems from the life world are investigated, often by including everyday actors. through a combination and further development of viewpoints new analyses and solutions are developed. Cooperation and the transfer of knowledge are integral elements in transdisciplinary research.
