Internal funding

Here you will find an overview of funding measures that are available to members of the Faculty of Business and Economic from the Department's budget. If you have any questions, please contact the members of the Dean's Office.

Equal Opportunities Fund of the Faculty of Economic Sciences

    • Goal: Promotion of measures in the context of gender-specific selection of studies; equality and diversity within the faculty. Besides the promotion of measures, the aim is to make visible existing and newly conceived activities in these areas. Furthermore, the faculty strives to promote a culture of participation across the breadth of its disciplines.
    • Funding Scope: 5.000€ per Year
    • Application procedure: Applications must be submitted to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at dekanat.wirtschaft@leuphana.de before the start of a measure. Eligibility for funding is checked by the Equal Opportunities Officer and the Dean's Office and a corresponding feedback is provided promptly.

Promotion of activities in the context of internationalisation, especially within the framework of the faculty's internationalisation strategy

    • Goal: Promotion of related measures
    • Funding Scope: max. 50% of the costs, maximum budget of 30,000€ per year
    • Application procedure:Applications must be submitted to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at dekanat.wirtschaft@leuphana.de before the start of a measure. Eligibility for funding will be checked by the Commission for Internationalization

Promotion of guest lecturers / international exchange

    • Goal: Applications from the heart of the faculty in the funding line "Support of foreign guest lecturers for teaching activities at German universities" Model A are supported. The programme aims to promote the internationalisation of German universities and to strengthen the international dimension in teaching.
    • Funding Scope: coverage of the measure's own share; budget 15,000€ pA / until 2023.
    • Application procedure: Informal applications including the financing plan must be submitted to the DAAD in the Dean's Office of Faculty W at dekanat.wirtschaft@leuphana.de before the application process begins. The Dean's Office or the Commission for Internationalization will decide at short notice.

Funding of travel expenses fpr guest researchers / international exchange in the field of digitalization

    • Goal: If applications via the DAAD are unsuccessful, and if travel expenses of guest researchers contributing to the profile topic area Digitization at the Research Center DT are involved, travel expenses of the persons concerned will be covered upon application.
    • Funding Scope: Payment of travel costs of guest researchers; budget 10,000€ pA / until at least 2021.
    • Application procedure: Applications must be submitted to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at dekanat.wirtschaft@leuphana.de before the start. The Dean's Office or the Commission for Internationalization will decide at short notice.

Coverage of travel expenses for external reviewers during doctoral procedures

    • Goal: If travel expenses for external reviewers are incurred during the doctoral process, these will be covered upon application.
    • Funding Scope: Payment of travel costs for external reviewers up to a maximum of 400€
    • Application procedure: Applications should be submitted to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at dekanat.wirtschaft@leuphana.de.

Proofreading / Translation costs

    • Goal: To support the publication of journal articles in English language. Thus, on the one hand, the international visibility should be increased. On the other hand, it is intended to encourage "scholarly activities", which are aimed at the standard 15 "faculty qualification" in the context of the AACSB accreditation of the faculty and should have a positive influence on the corresponding indicator. As a guideline, 75 articles per year (with 75 professorships) are assumed, each of which will receive a 600€ grant for academic proofreading. Workshops in academic writing are to be financed from unspent funds (this can be done in cooperation with the research service).
    • Funding Scope: 600€ for 75 articles per year for academic proofreading, 45€ per year for 3 years.

Support of networking and transfer activities / risk protection

   • Goal: Risk protection, pre-financing of conferences; amount for impact and transfer. The Dean's Office takes over/participates in the pre-financing of conferences, larger events with funds from the steering reserve

Printing costs exams

   • Goal: Support of the dean's office by paying for minor exams or the like using the personal budget of the respective lecturer. Only large exams or payments of three figures or more can still be handled by the dean's office.
   • Funding Scope: individual, amounts from 100€ upwards.
   • Application procedure: Applications should be submitted to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Economic Sciences at dekanat.wirtschaft@leuphana.de.

Financial support for projects from the control reserve

   • Goal: A subsidisation of projects from the control reserve
   • Funding Scope: individual
   • Application procedure:

    ○ Grants can only be awarded if
(a) the grant is applied for in time to allow the Faculty Council to deal with the application before starting to spend the requested funds
(b) the application is accompanied by a detailed statement of the planned costs. In principle, only costs which (i) can be clearly allocated to the project and (ii) are paid via Leuphana cost centres are to be considered.
Furthermore, all funded projects or measures are expected to contribute to the perception of the faculty. For this reason, the allocation of the requested funds is generally only made after a corresponding measure, for example a (press) release for the internal and/or external communication of the faculty, has been issued.

Consideration of self-administration activities PS in the distribution of funds

   • Goal: In order not to dilute the points of the distribution of funds, additional funds from the dean's office are made available for course directors and PA chairs.
   • Funding Scope: approx. 3000€ per year.
   • Application procedure: An application in the form of an annual report must be submitted by 31.3. of each year to dekanat.wirtschaft@leuphana.de.

     ○ The report to be submitted must contain the following information so that the study programme achievements and PA chairmanship can be taken into account in the allocation of funds:
      • which study programmes in the PS are headed by members of Faculty W (and which persons are affected)
      • how many students were enrolled in these courses in the previous year
      • how many graduates were there in these courses of study in the previous year
      • which PS examination boards are headed by members of Faculty W (and which persons are affected)

Takeover of student assistants for selection procedures

  • Goal: Funding of one assistant researcher hour per 10 valid applications for the pre-selection of applications for the Master's programme in Management and Engineering.
  • Funding Scope: In the Management and Engineering selection procedure, funding of one assistant researcher hour per 10 valid applications can be applied for per major.
